Here in the Geospatial Events section, you will find a mixed list of seminars, workshops, conferences and other geospatial events related to geomatics. Whether you’re an geomatics professional looking to stay abreast of the latest technology developments or a student looking to advance further in the field, there is something here for you.

What is Geomatics? Total Stations on a tripod ...

Total Stations are used in numerous geomatics applications, such as surveying and mapping. They can be used to accurately measure distances and angles, which are used to calculate the coordinates of points in an area. This data can then be used to generate detailed maps and surveys of the area.

Geoff Zeiss devoted over 30 years of his life to the Geospatial industry and global community. Besides focusing on utility and construction sectors, and mapping underground utility infrastructure among many other projects, he promoted awareness, innovation, and the evolution of geospatial data, technology, and underground utilities.

Geoff showed his leadership in many ways. Geoff and GoGeomatics created the SUMSF event together, where Geoff served as Conference Chair since the event’s inception. He created a thought leadership blog that now holds over 2000 articles. Between the Poles is a blog Geoff created to advocate issues of importance to the sector.

Geoff passed away on September 14, 2022. GoGeomatics and the Geomatics community are continuing Geoff’s work and are inviting you to take part in SUMSF 2023.

The Subsurface Utility Mapping Strategy Forum (SUMSF), May 16-17, 2023 is a virtual conference that brings together individuals and organizations to share information about and contribute to improving the mapping of underground infrastructure. This is a highly specialized executive-level audience from organizations in both the private and public sector.

The priority use cases are reducing damage to underground utilities during construction and the development of subsurface digital twins. The focus will be on innovative strategies involving policies, legislation, regulation, new technologies, business best practices, and training and education for improving mapping of underground utilities.
